About the POE Group

The POE Group has been in business since 1997. We are a management consulting firm that advises companies on becoming great places to work by developing reward systems that attract, motivate, and retain employees. We are a specialized consulting organization which prides itself on providing expert knowledge, creative solutions, the ability to implement, and excellent client service at a reasonable fee.

Collaboration with our clients is an important aspect of our consulting approach. We have found that this improves results by better aligning our recommendations to the cultural realities of the organization. We are data centric in our approach to understanding organizations, utilizing qualitative as well as quantitative sources.

We partner with other independent consultants who are experts in their specific fields to provide a full array of services to our clients.


Practice Emphasis

The primary emphasis of the practice is executive compensation consulting. We provide compensation consulting for all employee segments including total reward systems, base pay competitive analysis, incentive plan design, sales compensation design, and executive compensation design.

The POE Group also engages in strategic planning consulting to develop measurement and feedback systems to reinforce and communicate organizations’ strategic and tactical goals. We work with companies to understand business opportunities, establish priorities and goals, and measure results.


Joseph F. Kager, -CCP

Joe is the Managing Consultant and founder of the POE Group. He is a Certified Compensation Professional with over twenty-five years experience in compensation and human resources. His areas of expertise include the design of reward and feedback systems, executive compensation program design, and strategic planning. Prior to launching the POE Group, Joe worked for fifteen years in healthcare, manufacturing, and insurance companies. He focused on managing cultural and operational change, including mergers and Greenfield start-ups. Joe graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in Organizational Psychology and earned a Master’s degree from Auburn University in Management.

In addition to managing the POE Group, Joe is an Instructor at the University of South Florida, currently teaching Compensation Design and Management. He also serves on the Executive Committee of the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay Board of Directors and is an adult leader in the Boy Scouts.
